About Me

Hi, I’m Michael Hollin. Nice to meet you.

Originally from Leeds, England, I am now an English teacher in Ulsan, South Korea. I am a graduate of the University of Huddersfield’s Business School and The College of Law Chester. I self-published my novel A Cause for Concern in September 2010.

Waygookin is the South Korean word for foreigner, which is moi. And this is my diary of a new life overseas.

Hey, I am a third year college student at an American university, and I want to spend a year or two teaching English in south Korea. How do I begin? I would appreciate any help. I am going to get my tesol certificate next year.

    • Hi Nisha. Thanks foe reading my blog. I got the job in Korea through an organisation called EPIK (English Program In Korea). Their website is http://www.epik.go.kr.

You then need to find a recruitment agent to represent you. I used one called Footprints {can be found on Google}.

Epik intakes are February August and October. It takes a few months from application to getting on the plane. So work out when you want to start and apply a few months prior. For example I started applying in April for the August intake.

Let me know how you get on and if you have any more questions do not hesitate to contact me. Enjoy the rest of your time at university. Whereabouts in the US are you studying?

All the best. Michael : )
